CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police are investigating the possible connection between the discovery of the body an elderly woman inside her residence in Sakura City and that of her son in a nearby river, reports TBS News (Aug. 25).
At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the eldest son of Yoko Yasui, 83, called police to say that his “mother was dead” in their residence. Police arriving at the home found the body of the woman atop a futon. The body, which had a towel wrapped around the head, did not exhibit any external wounds.
At the time of the discovery, the whereabouts of her second son, 46, were not known. However, his body was found in a river near the water intake for a purification plant, located about 1.5 kilometers from the residence, about six hours later.
Police are now attempting to determine the causes of death of both persons, according to the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 25).
