TOKYO (TR) – The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday suspended the indictment against popular actress Ai Takabe who had faced multiple drug charges, reports Nikkan Sports (Mar. 29).

The prosecutor said at the Tokyo District Court that Takabe, 27, who had been accused of using and possessing of cocaine, had already received “social punishment” due to her arrests last year. The prosecutor also viewed the amount of the drug involved in the crime to be minuscule.

On the morning of October 15, police arrested Takabe, whose real name is Ai Nakayama, after a search of her residence in Shibuya Ward resulted in the discovery of cocaine. She was re-arrested after a urine analysis revealed a positive result for the same drug.

Takabe appeared at a Halloween party attended by more than 50 number of actresses and bikini idols, including Yuri Morishita, on the evening before her first arrest.

In 2004, Takabe won the Gravure-sho, or Pin-Up Award, at the All-Japan National Beautiful Girl Contest. She subsequently went on to appear in television dramas and as a voice actress in animations, including “Kill Me, Baby,” which was broadcast on TBS in 2012.

Takabe was released from custody in November.
