KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police on Thursday arrested a 41-year-old woman for allegedly collecting welfare payments over eight-month period while working in the fuzoku (sex-related) industry, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 29).
Officers took the woman, a resident of Fushimi Ward, into custody for receiving 870,000 yen in benefits between June of last year and this month while working at a “delivery health” out-call sex service.
“I did it to support a host,” said the suspect in referring to a male nightclub entertainer.
The suspect began collecting welfare in 2008. In April of last year, she started working at the out-call service, where she has earned five million yen in income.
The matter came to light during an investigation of the woman after she was arrested on January 8 for a violating a communications law regarding the misuse of a mobile phone.
