Officers took Akihito Teramura, a 44-year-old economics reporter, into custody for allegedly paying 35,000 yen to a 16-year-old girl for an illicit encounter at a love hotel in Shinjuku Ward’s Kabukicho red-light district on August 19 of last year.
The suspect, who currently works in the Fukuoka bureau of the Yomiuri, has reportedly admitted to the allegations.
