OITA (TR) – Police investigating the disappearance of a woman who vanished from her Oita City apartment nearly a decade ago have revealed a major clue: her bankbook was found hidden beneath a nearby housing complex, reports Fuji News Network (Sep. 18).
Misaki Gojobori, now 34, has been missing since the late hours of September 25, 2016. She was last seen at her apartment in the Yokoo area at around 11:30 p.m. after parting ways with a visiting friend.
According to investigative sources, Gojobori’s bankbook was discovered a few years after her disappearance, though the finding has only recently been made public. The item was located near an underfloor exhaust vent of a residential building just a short distance from her own apartment.
Police confirmed that no cash had been withdrawn from the account. Given the deliberately concealed location of the bankbook, investigators are proceeding with caution, suspecting that a third party may have hidden or discarded the item after Gojobori vanished.
The unresolved case remains a massive undertaking for local law enforcement. Over the years, the Oita Prefectural Police have mobilized investigators in their ongoing search for the missing woman.
