Saitama restaurant owner accused of using Vietnamese eatery as meth delivery hub

SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a 37-year-old Vietnamese national and a female accomplice for allegedly operating an illicit drug delivery service out of a restaurant in Niiza City, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 21).

Nguyen Van Cong, a restaurant operator, and his accomplice are accused of selling approximately 0.4 grams of kakuseizai (methamphetamine) to a 26-year-old Vietnamese acquaintance for 30,000 yen on a street in Niiza City last year. The pair were sent to prosecutors on August 21.

According to investigative sources, Cong’s Vietnamese eatery served as the primary front and base of operations for the drug ring. Deals were reportedly brokered using social media platforms, after which the methamphetamine was dispatched and delivered directly from the restaurant.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine how the suspects obtained the narcotics and are working to uncover the broader distribution network.
