TOKYO (TR) – Police have arrested a 39-year-old taxi driver for allegedly breaking into the residence of an intoxicated female passenger and sexually assaulting her, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 13).
Mitsuaki Akasaka, a resident of Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, faces charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse and trespassing.
According to the Chofu Police Station, the incident took place in the early hours of May 3. Akasaka was driving the victim, a woman in her 20s who was in a heavy state of intoxication, to her residence in Tokyo.
Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly used the pretext of helping the drunken woman inside to enter through her front door, where he then sexually assaulted her.
During police questioning, Akasaka partially denied the allegations, disputing the victim’s level of inebriation. “My understanding was that she was not drunk,” he claimed.
However, he openly admitted to his motive for the assault, telling investigators, “Her body type was to my liking, and I wanted to satisfy my sexual desires.”
The crime came to light a few days after the incident when the victim went to a nearby police box to report the assault. Investigators were subsequently able to identify Akasaka and confirm his involvement by analyzing local security camera footage.
