Thieves net ¥120 million in luxury apparel in lightning-fast Fukui burglaries

FUKUI (TR) – Police are investigating a string of brazen burglaries targeting high-end boutiques in Fukui City, with total losses estimated at a staggering 120 million yen, reports TBS News (May 4).

Security cameras captured the perpetrators executing the heists with practiced efficiency. Footage shot inside one luxury apparel store in the early hours of April 30 shows a trio of thieves systematically stuffing clothing and accessories into bags. The crew clears the shelves and flees the scene in just two and a half minutes.

The stolen goods included more than 100 items, such as Chrome Hearts accessories and premium denim jeans priced at over 2 million yen per pair. The total loss from the first break-in alone is estimated at 60 million yen.

The crime wave continued into the early hours of May 1, when a four-person crew broke into another luxury brand store. The thieves made off with approximately 180 items, again heavily targeting Chrome Hearts apparel and accessories, resulting in another 60 million yen in losses.

Keisuke Miyata, owner of the targeted M’s Shop, lamented the devastating timing of the crime. “It happened right before Golden Week, so frankly, it really hurts,” he said.

Miyata showed reporters the side entrance where the intruders breached the store. “It’s like a backdoor. They pried it open with a crowbar, removed a board and got inside,” he explained.

Police are currently analyzing the security footage and tracking the suspects on suspicion of theft.
