Yamaguchi bank worker leaks customer details in viral office video

YAMAGUCHI (TR) — A young female employee at Nishi-Nippon City Bank has sparked a privacy scandal after posting a video to social media that leaked the names of customers and internal financial targets, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 30).

The inappropriate footage, which quickly spread online, was filmed inside the back office of the bank’s Shimonoseki Branch in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

In the video, the young woman is seen using her smartphone to film her colleagues. However, her camera also panned across sensitive internal documents and displays, capturing the words “business goals,” various financial figures and personal names.

Following an internal investigation, Nishi-Nippon City Bank confirmed that the video was shot by a staff member inside their workspace. The bank revealed that a whiteboard visible in the footage clearly exposed the names of seven customers.

The financial institution stated it is in the process of contacting the affected individuals directly to issue a formal apology.

Taking photos or recording videos inside the bank’s operational areas is strictly prohibited under company regulations.

“We will thoroughly enforce compliance and strict information management to ensure this does not happen again,” Nishi-Nippon City Bank said in a statement regarding the breach.
