Marijuana tablets go missing at Yokohama Customs

KANAGAWA (TR) – The Yokohama Customs Office on Tuesday announced that it had lost more than dozen tablets containing marijuana that it had been storing, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 28).

According to the Yokohama Customs Office, the lost drugs were tablets containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a marijuana component. A total of 149 tablets were confiscated in 2022 and stored in the storage room.

When the quantity was checked on April 21, it was discovered that 18 tablets were missing.

All tablets were present when the storage room was checked in October of last year, the office said.

Any employee could borrow the key to the storage room. As well, no records were kept.

At a press conference on the 28th of this month, the Yokohama Customs Office apologized, stating, “We deeply regret having severely damaged the trust of the public and offer our sincerest apologies.”

They plan to file a lost property report with the police and investigate the whereabouts of the lost illegal drugs.
