HOKKAIDO (TR) – Police here arrested a 52-year-old unemployed man after he allegedly sliced open a male acquaintance’s abdomen with a knife inside a Kushiro City love hotel early Friday, reports Hokkaido News UHB (Apr. 25).
Between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., the unnamed suspect is accused of using a kitchen knife to slash the stomach of the acquaintance, aged in his 70s.
The incident came to light after the wounded victim managed to escape the room and plead for help from hotel personnel, who immediately alerted authorities via an emergency call.
While the exact number of stab wounds and the overall severity of the cuts remain undisclosed, police confirmed the victim’s injuries are not currently life-threatening.
Investigators reviewing the facility’s security camera footage quickly identified the 52-year-old local resident. According to police, the two men were hotel guests and were the only individuals inside the room when the violence erupted.
Officers apprehended the suspect on Friday afternoon. During questioning, he readily admitted to carrying out the attack.
Hokkaido police are now probing the suspect’s motive and investigating the circumstances of their relationship, including why the suspect brought a deadly weapon to the love hotel.
