Nagoya child welfare worker accused of possessing child pornography

AICHI (TR) – Nara Prefectural Police have arrested a male child welfare worker in Nagoya on suspicion of possessing multiple obscene videos of minors that constitute child pornography, reports Yomiuri TV (Mar. 10).

In February, Koki Mori, 29, is suspected of possessing a smartphone on which six videos of minors that constitute child pornography were stored.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating the Child Pornography Prohibition Act on Tuesday, Mori remained silent. “I will consult with my lawyer,” he said.

The arrest is the second for Mori. Last month, police accused him of violating the Anti-nuisance Ordinance for pointing his smartphone at a teenage boy while he was changing in the changing room of a public bath in Nara City in November 2024.

When the smartphone was seized, the obscene videos of boys that constituted child pornography were discovered.

According to police, Mori worked as a child counselor, providing support to minors at a child welfare facility in Nagoya. He also coached dodgeball at an after-school program at a private elementary school.

During the investigation, police found thousands of other indecent videos believed to feature boys stored on his smartphone.

Mori is believed to have obtained these videos using an anonymous messaging app.

Police are continuing the investigation, including into how he obtained the videos.
