Suspected drunk driver six times over legal limit had ‘four cans of chuhai’

FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police last month arrested a 65-year-old man on suspicion of drunk driving in Yukuhashi City, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 3).

At 11:50 p.m. on February 25, police were alert to Yutaka Utsunomiya, a 65-year-old part-time worker, who was driving a vehicle with a missing front wheel.

Upon questioning Utsunomiya, officers noticed alcohol on his breath.

The car was driving on the road…as police approached. The results of a subsequent analysis gave a reading that was six times over the legal limit.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of drunk driving, Utsunomiya denied the allegations. “I can’t accept it,” he said. “I drank four 500ml cans of chuhai around 6:00 a.m. I thought the alcohol had worn off.”
