TOKYO (TR) – Prosecutors last week announced the non-prosecution of actress Ryoko Yonekura following an investigation on suspicion of violations of the Narcotics Control Act.
On January 31, Yonekura, 50, updated her official website with a handwritten, signed statement in which she indicated that she is “reflecting” on her life.
Yonekura wrote, “To all those involved and my fans, thank you very much for your continued support of my activities. On December 26 of last year, I shared my thoughts with you all. I am fully aware that I received a variety of opinions in response, and I take them very seriously.”
She continued, “I deeply apologize for causing considerable inconvenience and concern to all those involved and my fans.”
She added, “As of January 30, I was not indicted. I consider the investigation into me to have concluded.”

Yonekura added that she will not reveal the contents of the investigation. She wrote, “I understand that some people believe I should be the one to explain what happened to all of you who have been so concerned. However, if I were to speak out, it could take on a life of its own and cause inconvenience to various parties in unforeseen ways. Therefore, in accordance with my lawyer’s instructions, I will refrain from providing any explanation. I kindly ask for your understanding.”
She continued, “In light of the recent series of investigations, I have refrained from activities, but during that time I have been reflecting on my life and my activities to date. In the process, I have once again come to a strong realization that the existence of Ryoko Yonekura has been possible only thanks to the support of my fans, all those involved, and the many people who have helped me.”
She concluded, “I believe that what I can do now is to return to my original intentions and approach everything with sincerity. I would like to ask for your continued support in the future.”
