HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police last month launched an investigation after a woman’s body was discovered in the town of Yakumo, located in the southern part of the prefecture, reports Hokkaido News UHB (Aug. 1).
At a little after 4:00 a.m. on July 31, a fisherman called the police to report that there was someone who appeared to be a woman lying on a sandy beach near the Yakumo Fishing Port.
When police and other authorities arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying face-down on the beach. She was confirmed dead at the scene.
The body of the woman, believed to be in her 40s or 50s, was fully clothed and showed no visible signs of external injuries. No belongings were found at the scene.
Police are working to identify the body. The case is being treated as the result of foul play or an accident.
