Skeletal remains found under tractor in Kumamoto rice field

KUMAMOTO (TR) – Kumamoto Prefectural Police launched an investigation after skeletal remains were found crushed under a tractor in a rice field in Satsumasendai City last week, reports TBS News (July 19).

At around 8:20 a.m. on Friday, a visitor to a house near the rice field in Hiwaki-cho alerted police. “Someone was crushed under a tractor,” the caller said.

According to the Satsumasendai Police Station, the body was crushed under the rotary part of the tractor that was parked in the rice field.

The body was wearing a straw hat, short-sleeved shirt, work pants and white rain boots.

The gender and age of the person are unknown. As well, no identification has been found in the area.

The person who discovered the body had been unable to contact the resident of a house about 30 meters away from the scene for an extended period. When they went to check at the house, they discovered the body in the rice field.

Police are now working to identify the body and determine the cause of death.
