OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Monday announced the discovery of a headless body of a woman in a river in Takatsuki City, reports TV Asahi (June 22).

On Sunday morning, a male walking at the edge of the Hiogawa River in Nariainishi saw the naked body, which was also missing its left arm, floating face-up at a depth of approximately 10 centimeters.

The corpse had begun to decompose, police said, adding that woman probably died between late May and early June, according to Nippon News Network (June 22). The victim was believed to be between 50 and 80 years of age.

Police are now conducting a DNA analysis to determine the identity of the body.
