Chiba bars staffed with foreign hostesses busted for licensing violations

TOKYO (TR) – Police raided three bars staffed by foreign bar hostesses in Chiba Prefecture on Tuesday and took the female proprietors into custoday for improper licensing, reports Fuji News Network (Nov. 30).

Officers arrested managers Lee Sung-hee, 40, of Lounge Alice, Chon Eun-ju, 35, of Club Hibiki, and 59-year-old Mieko Sakuma of Kurabu Hana for violating the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.

The clubs, located in Tomisato City, were not licensed to allow hostesses to serve drinks to customers.

“I know that I was violating the law, but I did it as a means of survival,” Chon is quoted by police.
