OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 51-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his father to death with a wooden chopstick in Yao City, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (June 16).

At approximately 10:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Michikazu Ikeuchi plunged a single serving chopstick, measuring 30 centimeters in length, into the left side of the throat of his father, Takeo, 81, in the kitchen of the residence they share in the Minamikinomoto area.

Ikeuchi, who has been charged with murder, denies the charges. “My intention was not to commit murder,” the suspect is quoted by officers from the Yao Police Station.

The incident happened after an argument erupted. “I was annoyed by my father’s speech and conduct,” the suspect is quoted.

Michikazu is the second son of Takeo. A total of seven persons live in the residence.
