SAITAMA (TR) – A DNA analysis has linked a male Korean national who took his own life earlier this year to the killing of a woman in Kawaguchi City two decades ago, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 21).
On October 21, Park Taesoon was prosecuted on charges of murder in the strangulation of Sachiko Sakairi, who was 48, at her residence in the Kamiaoki area of Kawaguchi City in February of 1996.
A DNA analysis of material at the crime scene in Kawaguchi proved to be a match for Park, who was 58 years old at the time of his death.
Park has also been prosecuted on charges of murder with the Nagoya District Public Prosecutor’s Office in the killing of 74-year-old Akira Horiguchi, who was found stabbed to death in a room on the second floor of the apartment in Nakagawa.
According to Saitama Prefectural Police, Park had been a person of interest after the murder of Sakairi since they were known to have regularly gone out drinking together, according to TV Asahi (Oct. 21).
