Woman accused of stabbing married lover in Fukuoka internet cafe

FUKUOKA (TR) – Police in Fukuoka City have arrested a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her married lover inside a private booth at an internet cafe, reports RKB Mainichi Broadcasting (Oct. 10).

Kumiko Taniguchi, a self-described part-time worker from Jonan Ward, is accused of stabbing the 39-year-old man in the abdomen and shoulder with a kitchen knife at an internet cafe in the Nishijin area of Sawara Ward at around 7:00 p.m. on October 9.

According to police, the pair entered the establishment shortly before 7:00 p.m. However, the crime did not come to light until roughly 12 hours later. At just after 7:00 a.m. the following morning, the victim sent a desperate text message to his wife.

“I am being held captive. I’ve been stabbed. Call the police,” the message read.

The victim’s wife immediately dialed police. Officers rushed to the scene and secured Taniguchi. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Upon her arrest, Taniguchi admitted to the allegations.

“I intended to kill the man I was having an affair with,” Taniguchi was quoted as telling investigators. “There is no mistake that I stabbed him with a kitchen knife I brought from home.”

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the attack and are looking into what trouble may have occurred between the couple.
