TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three male Vietnamese nationals for breaking into a home in Ayase City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
According to police, the three suspects, including 23-year-old Nguyen Van Duc, are believed to have committed around 200 thefts in the Kanto area, reports TBS News (Dec. 19).
At around 3:00 a.m. on November 1, Nguyen and his accomplices allegedly broke into the home of a woman in her 60s in Ayase and attempted to steal money and valuables by prying open a safe.
Tokyo police have not revealed whether the three suspects admit to allegations of attempted theft and other crimes.

Fled without stealing anything
A total of five perpetrators, including the three suspects, a driver, and another man, arrived at the scene in Ayase by car. They are all believed to be Vietnamese nationals.
Police said that Nguyen and his accomplices removed the storm shutters in the living room on the first floor of the home and burned the window glass with a burner to gain entry.
They later broke open the safe inside but found nothing inside. They then fled without stealing anything.
At the time, the woman was asleep on the second floor.
Police currently investigating whether Nguyen and his accomplices may have committed around 200 thefts, mainly in Tokyo and Kanagawa, since May of this year. The value of stolen property and cash totals around 10 million yen, police said.
