TOKYO (TR) – Popular actress Ruriko Kojima returned to show business after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus with a surprise appearance on Fuji TV’s “Zenryoku! Datsuryoku Times” on Friday.
The program, which features commentators providing in-depth commentary on news from around the world, was scheduled without a guest.
However, Kojima, 31, appeared at a meeting at the station. Teppei Arita, a comedian with the duo Cream Stew, then approached her. “It’s been a really long time. This is going to be exciting,” he said.
Kojima responded, “It’s been a while. It’s been three and a half years, I think. I’m returning after about two and a half years, so I came here to meet with some staff I know for a meeting and to say hello. I’ll do anything I can.”

In August 2022, Kojima announced that she would be studying at a university in China, and left her talent agency at the end of February 2023.
The following month, she married a company executive two years her junior. That August, she announced that she was pregnant with her first child. However, her husband passed away in February of this year.
On October 12, she announced that she would be resuming her career in show business.
