Nagasaki boss who burned employee with blowtorch re-arrested over desk lamp beating

NAGASAKI (TR) – Police in Nagasaki City have re-arrested a 41-year-old company president and his wife for allegedly beating a male employee with a desk lamp to prevent him from quitting his job, reports TV Nagasaki (July 16).

Takaya Uchino, who runs a waterproofing business in the Kamitomachi area, and his 37-year-old wife Yuka, an office worker, are facing charges of assault and extortion.

According to police, in mid-May of last year, the couple attempted to coerce a male employee in his 40s into abandoning his plans to resign. The pair allegedly told the man, “Are you going to return our favor with betrayal?” before striking him in the back of the head with a desk lamp, successfully intimidating him into staying.

Upon arrest, Takaya admitted to the allegations. His wife, however, has chosen to remain silent.

The couple’s latest arrest follows a string of horrific and bizarre abuses directed at the same employee. They have been previously arrested for beating the man with a wooden sword, scorching his thighs with a blowtorch and stripping him completely naked before forcing him to climb a utility pole.

On July 15, the Nagasaki District Public Prosecutors Office formally indicted Takaya on separate charges, including non-consensual indecent assault resulting in injury.
