Man suspected of stalking former colleague despite restraining order

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for violating a restraining order by repeatedly messaging a female former colleague in her 20s, including bizarre complaints about his previous time behind bars.

Mitsuo Osaka was previously arrested in May for stalking the same woman. Following his release, authorities issued a prohibition order forbidding him from approaching or contacting her.

However, last month, Osaka allegedly began sending the victim messages on social media, expressing a bitter grudge over his prior arrest.

“You really did it, didn’t you,” one message read. In another, he complained about his incarceration, writing, “I spent what little time I have left in my life eating cold rice inside a cage.”

In an apparent attempt to manipulate the woman’s feelings, Osaka also sent messages hinting at taking his own life, writing, “By the time this message reaches everyone’s eyes, I will no longer be in this world.”

Upon his re-arrest, Osaka fully admitted to the allegations.

“I wanted to make her regret it. I wanted her to look my way,” Osaka told investigators. “There is no mistake that I sent messages and images despite receiving a prohibition order.”
