KYOTO (TR) – Police in Kyoto City have arrested a 55-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of abandoning the corpse of his 79-year-old mother at their shared residence in Fushimi Ward, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Sep. 29).
The suspect is accused of leaving his mother’s lifeless body at their home in the Noso-shimono area from late this month until approximately 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
The grim discovery was made earlier the same day when a visiting court official arrived at the residence, noticed the deceased woman inside, and immediately alerted the authorities, police said.
Upon questioning, the man admitted to the allegations. “There is no mistake that I left my mother’s body in the house despite knowing she was dead,” he was quoted as telling investigators.
Police are continuing to investigate the detailed circumstances surrounding the incident and the woman’s cause of death.
