Gunma police hunt for man after hold-up at credit union

GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectual Police are hunting for a man who broke into a credit union in Kiryu City and stole 2 million yen in cash before fleeing, reports TBS News (Feb. 3).

At around 1:00 p.m., the man broke into the credit union and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at a female clerk. “Give me the money, hurry up,” he said before stealing the 2 million yen in cash and heading out the door.

There were no customers in the credit union at the time. No employees were injured in the incident, police said.

The clerk said that the gun-like object “looked like a toy.”

The perpetrator also left a small cardboard box on the counter. Police later determined that there was no risk of an explosion.

With a slim build, the perpetrator stands between 170 to 180 centimeters tall. At the time, he was wearing a black jacked and a balaclava.
