Executive accused of hijacking influencer’s SNS account

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a real estate company executive on suspicion of illegally accessing and hijacking a female influencer’s social media account, reports Nippon News Network (Sep. 3).

Masanori Honda is accused of hacking into and taking over the victim’s account between February and March of this year.

According to police, Honda impersonated a different female influencer to deceive the victim. He reportedly sent a message stating, “Good things will happen if you tell me,” successfully tricking the woman into handing over her login ID and password.

Upon his arrest, Honda admitted to the allegations. “I wanted to know about her private life,” he told investigators.

Police believe the case is not an isolated incident. Authorities suspect Honda has illegally accessed the accounts of at least 100 other individuals and are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of his online snooping.
