SHIZUOKA (TR) – A 73-year-old woman drove her car through the front doors of a game center in Fujieda City, injuring two people, after she allegedly mixed up her foot pedals, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 17).
The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Crane Game Bee, an amusement arcade. The passenger vehicle smashed through the establishment’s front glass doors and went careening into the store, finally coming to a halt after colliding with an arcade machine.
At the time of the crash, three customers and one staff member were inside the venue. An 18-year-old male high school student and a 34-year-old female part-time employee sustained minor injuries to her hands and legs.
The 73-year-old driver emerged from the crash uninjured.
According to authorities, the woman explained the cause of the accident by stating, “I mistook the accelerator for the brake.”
