Dewi Sukarno sent to prosecutors over alleged drunken assault of manager

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have sent socialite Dewi Sukarno to prosecutors over the alleged drunken assault of her former manager last year, reports Nippon News Network (Jan. 23).

On Friday, the Yoyogi Police Station referred Sukarno, 85, to prosecutors on suspicion of assault resulting in injury.

Between 11:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. on October 28, Sukarno allegedly punched and kicked the then manager, a woman aged in her 30s, at a veterinary hospital in Shibuya Ward.

The victim suffered a sprained neck and abdominal bruises that took two weeks to heal. She later left the company presided over by Sukarno.

During voluntary questioning, Sukarno stated that she was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Regarding the charges, she denied causing any injuries.

Prior to the incident, the manager visited the veterinary hospital after Sukarno’s dog became ill. However, the dog later died.

Thereafter, Sukarno rushed to the hospital and complained to staff. The manager then attempted to intervene, which led to the alleged assault.
