TOKYO (TR) – Following the swindling of an elderly woman out of five million yen, Tokyo Metropolitan Police police are seeking the help of the public in locating a man suspected in the crime, reports TBS News (Aug. 15).
On Monday, police released a video clip showing the man, who is sought in connection with the swindling a 71-year-old woman living in Katsushika Ward on July 14.
In a scam known as ore ore sagi, or “it’s me fraud,” the suspect claimed to be the woman’s son on the telephone, telling her that he needed money for work since a bag of his was stolen. Upon meeting the woman on a road in Arakawa Ward, the suspect posed as the son’s work colleague.
In the clip, the man, with a heavy-set build and dark hair, is seen carrying a large bag and wearing a white shirt. He his believed to be in his 40s.
