TOKYO (TR) – Following a series of thefts of high-end bicycles in the Otemachi area, police are seeking the help of the public in locating a Vietnamese national suspected in the crimes, reports Nippon News Network (June 28).
On Tuesday, police released video clips showing Nguyen Huy Tinh, a 23-year-old Vietnamese national who is believed to have stolen 47 racing bicycles valued at 5.38 million yen between January and May.
In once case last month, he is suspected in the theft of a road bike valued at 264,00 yen from a parking area for bicycles.
In one video clip released by police, Nguyen is seen walking in dark jeans and a jacket while listening to music.
According to TV Asahi (June 28), Nguyen is part of a gang that steals bicycles in order to sell them later.
Persons with information on the case are advised to call the Marunouchi Police Station at 03-3213-0110.
Update: Nguyen was arrested in Chiba Prefecture after he turned himself in at a police box on Thursday, according to the Nippon News Network (June 30).
