TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 40-year-old man who is suspected of sending a variety of garbage through the mail to former classmates in a revenge plot for bullying, reports NHK (Nov. 30).
On 70 occasions between August of last year and last month, Shigeta Miura, a university lecturer living in Musashino City, allegedly stuffed rotten tea leaves mixed with dirt and women’s underwear into an envelope and posted it a 40-year-old acquaintance.
Police suspect that Miura sent more than a total of 500 packages with the victims being four different persons in the same Boy Scout troop with him in elementary school. The ploy involved writing the name of a victim as the sender on the package and posting it without stamps, according to Jiji Press (Nov. 30).
Miura, who has been charged with violating a public nuisance ordinance, told police that he committed the acts in revenge. “It was due to a grudge for being bullied, such as eating lunch alone,” said the suspect.
