SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to have been a suicide following the discovery of a woman’s corpse on a road in Misato City, reports Nippon News Network (Aug. 6).
At approximately 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, police received a tip about a “a loud sound and a car on fire” from a resident near a municipal road in the Koyabori area. A firefighting crew arriving at the scene extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes.
Emergency personnel found the burned body of a woman lying face-up about three meters from the vehicle. She was later confirmed dead.
According to TBS News (Aug. 6), the woman is a 35-year-old clerk at a medical institution. Police suspect that she took her own life by setting the car on fire.
