SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police are seeking the whereabouts of a member of a fraud ring following a raid of its headquarters in Wako City, reports TBS News (Nov. 11).

On around October 21, Koji Yamada, a 35-year-old resident of Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward, and two other members of the ring attempted to swindle an 81-year-old man living in Chiba Prefecture by falsely claiming on the phone that he had “unpaid fees for an adult-related site.”

Police began an investigation after a person affiliated with the apartment the ring was renting lodged a complaint over unpaid rent, according to TV Asahi (Nov. 12).

Yamada and the other two members were subsequently arrested. Police also seized telephones and a register of names during a search of the premises.

On member of the ring, Tatsuaki Nagaoka, 31, has thus far managed to evade capture. Police are seeking his whereabouts on suspicion of attempted fraud.
