OKAYAMA (TR) – Following a series of thefts of women’s underwear, Okayama Prefectural Police on Monday arrested a 41-year-old postal employee who was found with hundreds of pairs at his residence in Tsuyama City, reports Nikkan Sports (May 23).

At 11:20 p.m. on May 3, Yoshimichi Sugano, a section chief at the Tsuyama Post Office, allegedly stole six undergarments belonging to a 20-year-old woman from Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture from inside a coin-operated drying machine at a laundromat.

A subsequent search of the suspect’s home revealed 260 items of women’s underwear.

The matter came to light after the woman lodged a complaint with police on May 5.

Since March, 10 similar thefts have taken place at seven laundromats in Tsuyama.
