TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Wednesday announced the bust of a parlor in the Ikebukuro district for employing female minors to provide sexual services, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sep. 30).
In April and May of this year, Yuichi Nagashima, the 31-year-old manager of parlor Fortune Cookie, located near JR Ikebukuro Station, is alleged to have employed three 17-year-old girls to perform acts considered obscene with male customers.
The parlor advertised itself as offering male customers the opportunity to engage in conversation with teenage girls in private rooms. However, an “underground” menu provided a list of sex-related acts that could also be purchased.
Nagashima, who has been charged with violating the Child Welfare Act, denies the charges, telling police that he was unaware of the existence of a separate menu for the parlor.
Over a six-month period, the parlor collected five million yen in revenue, according to the Asahi Shimbun (Sep. 30).
Fortune Cookie is a business coming under the designation “JK,” an abbreviation for joshi kosei, or high school girl. In recent years, law enforcement has been cracking down on such establishments. As a part of this crackdown, police shut down Fortune Cookie in May.
