GIFU (TR) – Gifu Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a corpse inside a building in Nakatsugawa City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Nov. 10).
On Wednesday, a 49-year-old resident of Nagoya arrived at a police box to inform officers that he had seen a corpse in the dilapidated building about a year ago. The following day, officers searched the building and found skeletal remains, possibly of a person aged between 30 and 60, inside a plastic bag placed in a first-floor closet.
The body, which was clothed in blue pants, a red sweater and cap, measures approximately 160 centimeters in length. There were no signs of external wounds. Police believe the person died more than one year ago.
A search of a bag found near the body revealed items that typically belong to a male, police said. However, no identification papers or money were found.
According to TV Asahi (Nov. 10), the building once housed a dining hall that closed about 10 years ago.
Police are now questioning the Nagoya man about whether he was involved in the abandonment of the body.
