CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly abducting a teenage girl from Shizuoka Prefecture whom he met online, reports Jiji Press (Nov. 22).

On Tuesday morning, Naoya Igeta, a resident of Kisarazu City telephoned police to report that he had “kidnapped a 14-year-old girl.”

Police arriving at the residence found the girl unharmed. Igeta was subsequently charged with abduction without consent of a guardian. He claims to have abducted her on November 16.

According to police, the girl is a middle school student who had run away from home. She met the suspect on a matchmaking site several years ago, according to TV Asahi (Nov. 22).
