TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a male nurse for assaulting actress and gravure idol Yurina Yanagi at a promotional event in Shinjuku Ward last week, investigative sources revealed on Wednesday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 10).
At 4:30 p.m. on December 5, the nurse, a 21-year-old resident of Osaka, approached Yanagi, 21, from behind a partition and grabbed her right arm during a meet-and-greet event for her fans at the Fukuya Shoten book store, located in the Shinjuku Subnade shopping area.
The suspect admits to the allegations.
After the assault, the suspect was quickly apprehended by the event’s staff members. Yanagi was not hurt during the incident.
According to police, the suspect was a participant at the event. In early July, a person posting on Twitter expressed a desire to kidnap Yanagi and sexually assault her. However, police believe the author of message and the suspect are different persons.
Yanagi’s popularity rose last year after she appeared with her upper body nude on a poster advertising wine that was used in the serial drama “Massan” that runs on NHK.
