18-year-old care worker arrested naked in Kagoshima laundromat

KAGOSHIMA (TR) – Police in Kagoshima City have arrested an 18-year-old man after he was discovered standing completely naked inside a local coin laundromat late at night, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 4).

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers on routine patrol noticed an abnormality inside the laundromat. Upon investigating, they found the suspect entirely without clothes and arrested him on the spot.

The suspect, a self-proclaimed nursing care worker residing in the city, admitted to the allegations.

“I wanted to relieve stress,” he told investigators upon his arrest on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Police noted that no other customers were present in the store at the time of the arrest, and the man was not doing any laundry.

The bizarre incident occurred as Kagoshima City endures a sweltering summer heatwave, marking its 32nd consecutive “tropical night” where overnight temperatures remain stubbornly high.

Authorities are now investigating whether the suspect is connected to multiple recent emergency calls from residents reporting a naked man wandering the nearby streets.
