TOKYO (TR) – Speculation regarding a tragic suicide are sweeping through social media following the sudden death of 25-year-old adult video (AV) actress Hana Kuraki, whose body was discovered on Saturday in an apartment linked to a notable host in the Kabukicho red-light district.
While police and her management agency have yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of death, online exposés have ignited a firestorm of controversy, detailing allegations of severe domestic violence, out-of-court settlements and extortion.
According to a post on X on Saturday by host club owner and BreakingDown fighter Sakito, the apartment where Kuraki was found was rented under the name of Shota Taira, a star host belonging to the prominent L’s Collection group in Kabukicho.
“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hana Kuraki. I offer my sincere condolences,” Sakito wrote.
“Traffic accident”
The discovery follows a disturbing incident from June 2026, when Kuraki announced a sudden hiatus, citing severe facial and jaw injuries from a “traffic accident.” However, according to an online whistleblower, the injuries were actually sustained when Taira abruptly accelerated his luxury Maybach while Kuraki was attempting to get into the vehicle, dragging her across the pavement.
Leaked documents reportedly include out-of-court settlement agreements regarding assault and theft, alongside a letter of apology from Taira. Observers note that using hush money to bury violent incidents is a classic maneuver in the nightlife underworld.
“Two hours late”
Sakito was present at the time of the discovery of Kuraki’s body. His post on X on Saturday clarified the chaotic aftermath. Sakito stated he was not the one who found the body; he was called to the scene by a friend of Kuraki’s, who had made the discovery.
When Sakito phoned Taira to inform him that the actress was dead in his apartment, Taira allegedly replied that he had a meeting and would be “two hours late” to the scene. Consequently, Sakito was left to handle the initial response with arriving police officers and detectives.
Sakito revealed that Kuraki had frequently confided in him about her agonizing relationship with Taira. Expressing his deep regret, Sakito wrote, “I pray for a world where people who dominate through violence and corner others like this no longer exist.”
Kabukicho scene
Taira, 29, is a heavyweight in the Kabukicho scene. A former idol, he generated over 200 million yen in his first year as a host and reigned as his group’s top earner in 2025. He was recently featured on AbemaTV as the “pinnacle of 1,700 hosts.”
Meanwhile, Sakito entered the Kabukicho world of hosts at Top Dandy. In 2023, he struck out on his own by opening S PiDA.
The tragedy casts a harsh light on the host club industry’s exploitative nature. Despite the 2025 revisions to the Adult Entertainment Business Law — which imposed massive fines to crack down on hosts manipulating women’s romantic feelings to rack up exorbitant debts and force them into the sex industry — the toxic cycle of financial extraction and emotional abuse remains deeply entrenched.

Kuraki, a native of Kanagawa Prefecture, debuted as an exclusive actress for the major adult label S1 in May 2024. After a stint at a beauty school and working as a hair and makeup assistant, she quickly rose to fame, releasing a hit photobook and scheduled to appear at the Taiwan Adult Expo in 2026.
Sakito added in the X post that the utmost priority must be given to showing consideration for the late Hana and her bereaved family and friends.
“I hope that no further harm comes to the deceased or those around her through misinformation or speculation,” he wrote. “I also hope for a world free of people who use violence to control others or drive them to such desperate straits.”
