KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police are planning to file charges with local prosecutors for licensing violations against an organized crime boss following a dog attack in Yokosuka City that left a woman and poodle injured, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (May 24).
On April 8, a Tosa dog belonging to a boss of a gang affiliated with the Inagawa-kai attacked a poodle being taken out for a walk by a woman, 50, on a road in the Hinodecho area.
In the attack, the woman suffered injuries to her left hand that required stitches. The poodle also received bites to its neck and torso.
The gangster subsequently settled with the woman out of court. During questioning, however, police learned that the Tosa had not undergone proper vaccination procedures against rabies as required by the city. The boss, who admits to the charges, is expected to be prosecuted on Tuesday. One other Inagawa-kai member has been cited in the case.
The Tosa has attacked two other canines in recent years. In October of 2014, it bit a miniature dachshund to death in the Heiseicho area. In a nearby neighborhood one year later, it attacked and injured a Shiba Inu.
