HYOGO (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Monday searched the headquarters of the Yamaguchi-gumi in Kobe over the robbery of more than 50 million yen earlier this year, reports the Mainichi Broadcasting Service (Oct. 17).
At around 2:15 p.m., 110 investigators entered the headquarters, located in Nada Ward, in search of evidence connected with the robbery of 56 million yen in cash from an employee of a precious metals shop in Osaka’s Minami entertainment area of Chuo Ward on March 24.
As a part of the investigation, police have arrested six persons, including 34-year-old Yuki Morio, a member of Tsukasa Kogyo, which is an affiliate gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi. Morio has been accused of ordering the robbery.
In carrying out the crime, two men wearing masks attacked the employee, aged in his 30s, and stole a cloth bag containing the money as he attempted to board a vehicle in front of the shop. The suspects then fled the scene in a white van that was parked nearby. The stolen money was proceeds from sales obtained from the shop.
The top boss of the Yamaguchi-gumi is Kenichi Shinoda, who also goes by Tsukasa Shinobu. He is the founder of the Nagoya-based Tsukasa Kogyo.
