OSAKA (TR) – The head of a car dealership has consulted with law enforcement following the sale of luxury automobiles to the boss of an organized crime group, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 21).
In March of 2013 and July last year, the dealer sold two domestic cars, priced at seven million yen and eight million yen, to the head of a gang within the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi.
On Thursday, the dealer, aged in his 70s, sought advice from a public safety commission due to business limitations contained in prefectural anti-organized crime laws, which prohibit regular citizens from facilitating the money-making activities of organized crime groups.
The boss, also aged in his 70s, uses the cars to attend gang meetings.
The Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi formed last year as a splinter gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi, which is Japan’s largest organized crime group.
