HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Monday revealed the arrest of an organized crime member following the discovery of pistols and ammunition in the latest incident involving weapons and criminal syndicates, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Nov. 22).
In June of last year, police found five revolvers and 50 rounds of ammunition in a storage room in Tatsuno City.
Investigative sources revealed that Motoyuki Yamazaki, a 52-year-old member of the Takumi-gumi, an affiliate gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, has been arrested for violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law.
Yamazaki was prosecuted on Tuesday. Four other male and female persons have been arrested in the case.
The case is the latest in a string of seizures by law enforcement of weapons belonging to gang groups.
In July, Hyogo police found five revolvers, a shotgun and 80 rounds of ammunition inside a residence in Himeji City. Two months later, police arrested Miki Ando, the head of the Takenaka-gumi, an affiliate gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi, on firearms violations.
In January, Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested a Takumi-gumi member after the discovery of one pistol and five rounds of ammunition inside an apartment in Tokyo’s Koto Ward in July of last year.
