TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who while drunk allegedly groped a woman after stalking her in Itabashi Ward early one morning in June.
At around 12:20 a.m. on June 30, Kairi Kiryu allegedly came up from behind the woman, aged her 20s, and fondled her breasts as she walked home, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 19).
Upon his arrest on suspicion of indecent assault without consent, Kiryu admitted to the allegations, saying, “I was drunk and aroused so I touched her.”
According to police, Kiryu first attempted to nampa, or pick up, the woman. “Are you going home now?” he reportedly asked. When she ignored him, he stalked her for several minutes before carrying out the alleged crime.
His involvement emerged during an investigation of security camera footage, police said.
