Man, 22, apprehended over Yokohama murder and robbery

KANAGAWA (TR) – A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder and robbery of a male resident of a home in Yokohama City, police said.

According to the police, Mazuki Takarada is suspected of conspiring with accomplices to break into the home 75-year-old Hiroharu Goto in Aoba Ward around October 15, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 20).

The suspect is then alleged to have assaulted and killed Goto and stole approximately 200,000 yen in cash.

Takarada became a person of interest after his vehicle was captured in security camera footage taken in the area of ​​the crime scene as he fled toward Chiba Prefecture.

The suspect has admitted to the charges during questioning, police said.

He also stated that he “used a highly confidential app” to contact the person who gave him instructions to carry out the crime.

Based on Takada’s statements, it is believed that there were two other perpetrators, and the police are searching for them.

The fingerprints of Shu Fujii, who was arrested in connection with a robbery in Ichikawa City, Chiba, were found at the scene of the crime in Aoba. Police are continuing their investigation into Fujii’s involvement.
