TOKYO (TR) – Celebrity and beauty personality Matt, 32, is at the center of a growing scandal after weekly Shukan Bunshun (Nov. 5) reported that complaints alleging sexual misconduct have been filed with Tokyo Metropolitan Police.

According to Bunshun, the alleged incidents all took place in settings involving alcohol. One accuser claims that in early 2025, at a members-only bar in Nishi Azabu she was plied with tequila and other drinks before being sexually assaulted at a residence by Matt and a male beauty influencer.

A separate accuser alleges being forced into a toilet at a karaoke establishment following an evening of drinking, the magazine reported. The publication said police are actively investigating the allegations.

“No such fact”

Through a representative attorney, Matt categorically denied that any sexual conduct of the kind described took place. ‘There is no such fact,’ his legal team said in a statement to Bunshun.

Matt’s side also alleged that monetary demands were made in connection with the accusations, framing the complaints as false. On the same day the article was published, Matt used the Stories feature on his personal Instagram account to mount a forceful rebuttal, calling the police reports “fabricated.”

The two sides remain in direct contradiction, and no charges have been announced. The fallout has extended beyond Matt himself, with commentators raising questions about the potential impact on the career of his father, Masumi Kuwata, 58, a celebrated former pitcher and current coaching figure in professional baseball with the Yomiuri Giants.
