HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police arrested a man following a pair of brazen daylight shootings in Kobe City on Wednesday that left one man dead and another wounded, reports the Kobe Shimbun (Sep. 30).
According to police and the Kobe City Fire Department, the violent spree began at around 1:15 p.m. in the Kamitsutsuidori area of Chuo Ward.
Emergency services received a frantic report that a man in his 60s had been shot in the abdomen. The victim was rushed to a hospital in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest but was soon after pronounced dead.
Barely 20 minutes later, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a second shooting unfolded roughly five kilometers west in the Aratacho area of Hyogo Ward. A police officer on the scene alerted the fire department that another victim, believed to be a man in his 50s, had been gunned down and shot in the back. He reportedly remained conscious following the attack.
Officers swarmed the second location and apprehended a male suspect near the scene, taking him into custody under emergency arrest for attempted murder.
Prefectural police are currently investigating the detailed circumstances surrounding the two consecutive attacks to determine the exact sequence of events.
